Blackberry Smoke is one of the best modern southern rock bands, and they are definitely worth checking out if you don’t already know about them. Formed in 2000, this band has put out a number of studio albums with a sound that isn’t quite like anything you have ever heard before. Alabama Shakes

Alabama Shakes has been active since 2009, and as a pretty new southern rock band they are pretty talented and popular within the genre. This band was clearly influenced by a lot of mid-20th century rhythm and blues artists, and the vocals come close to Janis Joplin at times. Ashley McBryde

This new female country musicians songwriting has been compared to that of Miranda Lambert, with a swagger that’s reminiscent of Hank Williams Jr. If you are fans of Miranda or Eric Church, you will likely be a fan of this talented young woman. This is certainly a good choice for those who have an affinity for no-nonsense country with a very pure sound to it.

Dalton Domino

Dalton Domino has a sweet and sensitive traditional country sound that is similar to Will Hoge and Ryan Beaver. A lot of critics are also comparing him to Robert Earl Keen, which is quite the compliment. Domino’s latest album, which is entitled “Corners,” came just after he gave up alcohol and drugs completely. While some people may still think that you need to be high as a kite to produce quality music, Dalton Domino definitely proves that isn’t true at all. With a name as unique as their sound, Drugstore Gypsies has a Blackberry Smoke and A Thousand Horses kind of sound that has set them apart from a lot of the other rising country stars. Cece Winans has been singing gospel music since 1984. She has sold over 12 million records worldwide and currently has a total of ten Grammy Awards. She is the best-selling female gospel artist in the world. While she has collaborated with a number of artists over the years, her solo albums have been incredibly successful. She has released eight solo albums; the first one came out in 1995.
